Adult Services Associate

Lincolnwood Public Library is seeking a bright, approachable, well-organized professional to join our Adult Services team. The Adult Services Associate is key in providing excellent front-line customer service at the muti-faceted Adult Services desk and providing internal support to the department. In addition to regularly working the Adult Services desk, typical work will include clerical tasks such as compiling monthly statistics, conducting search procedures for missing and lost books, and updating the public resource guides for the library’s electronic databases. Core responsibilities Provide reference and reader’s advisory services to patrons at the Adult Services desk, including phone calls and email correspondence Assist patrons with use of the department’s technology, digital resources, and Library of Things equipment Maintain evolving knowledge of the library’s comprehensive services, programming, collections, and resources Foster a welcoming environment for all patrons and, when necessary, enforce policies and expectations regarding patron behavior Bachelor’s degree OR associate’s degree with one year of library experience OR high school diploma with three years of library experience. One year experience working with adults in an educational or public library setting preferred. Advanced technology skills and excellent communication skills preferred. Compensation and benefits $19.04 - $23.80/hour DOQ 36 hours of vacation per year, increasing to 63 hours of vacation after the first year 43.2 hours of sick leave per year Paid holidays if the holiday falls on a regularly scheduled work day One floating holiday (to be taken within a designated period) The Lincolnwood Public Library District is an Equal Opportunity Employer. 18 hours per week. Schedule consists of: Monday afternoons (1-5pm) Tuesday evenings (4-9pm) Thursday evenings (4-9pm) Sundays (12:45-5pm; working 3 out of 4 Sundays on a 4-week rotation).
