Overview
We are seeking an Account Supervisor or Account Director to join our rapidly growing team. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who is passionate about financial services and has experience in private markets. The role will focus heavily on advising leading private equity, private credit, real estate, and alternative asset managers, with additional opportunities to work with banks, insurance companies, and firms focused on market structure.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of shaping financial and market narratives, a solid understanding of deal and fundraising dynamics, experience securing top-tier media coverage, and advising executives on high-stakes communications challenges. Account Supervisors and Account Directors play a leading role in managing client accounts and executing the responsibilities outlined below. This is a unique opportunity to join and help grow one of ICR’s most promising practice groups.
Depending on experience, the successful candidate will take on increasing responsibility across client leadership, strategic counsel, team management, and business development. All candidates are expected to demonstrate strong strategic thinking, writing, and media relations skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
ICR is defined by its entrepreneurial spirit, collaborative culture, and capital markets heritage. Accordingly, all team members are expected to demonstrate a strong desire to learn continuously, collaborate closely with colleagues, prioritize exceptional client service, pursue professional growth, and contribute to the firm’s long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the day-to-day client contact, helping lead and execute integrated communications programs, including narrative/message development, media relations, thought leadership, and executive visibility initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to pursue new business opportunities, manage existing accounts, and build a client portfolio.
- Build and leverage media relationships to secure impactful coverage that supports clients’ business, fundraising, and talent acquisition objectives.
- Oversee the development of communications materials, including press releases, op-eds, thought leadership content, investor letters, presentations, and social media posts.
- Coordinate closely with investor relations colleagues to advance highly integrated financial communications campaigns.
- Manage multiple accounts and projects while ensuring seamless, timely execution across client deliverables.
- Advise clients on high-level business, industry, and financial matters, engaging effectively with C-suite executives, board members, and other key stakeholders.
- Maintain a strong understanding of clients’ businesses, financial performance, industry trends, and strategic developments.
- Serve as a true strategic adviser, not simply a tactician.
- Mentor and develop junior team members by providing clear guidance, constructive feedback, and ongoing support.
Qualifications:
- 5–10+ years of corporate communications experience, either at an agency or in-house, with flexibility based on the role level.
- Experience in financial services and/or private markets, including private equity, private credit, or alternative investments, strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- A strong desire to help build one of the industry’s leading financial services communications consultancies.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships with members of the media and other industry professionals.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Bloomberg Terminal as well as AI-platforms such as Claude and Co-Pilot.
