About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Behavioral Health Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in the specialty applied for; 1 year of travel experience preferred; Minimum of 1 year experience in a psychiatric setting with pediatric experience required. License: Valid state nursing license required. Certifications: BLS required; Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training will be provided. Must-Have: Strong communication and relationship-building skills; experience with children and adolescents; physically competent to lift 25 lbs and participate in physical holds/restraints; consistent compliance with the wearing of behavioral personal protective equipment; previous training in Applied Behavioral Analysis preferred. Description: This position requires a registered nurse with experience in pediatric behavioral health. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in the specialty applied for and at least 1 year of travel nursing experience is preferred. A minimum of 1 year of experience in a psychiatric setting with pediatric experience is required. The nurse will facilitate therapeutic groups and complete safety checks. They will assist with activities of daily living, including meal supervision, bathing, toileting, and laundry. Engagement in recreational activities with patients, such as games and gym activities, is essential. 1:1 sitter supervision for high-risk patients on the inpatient unit or in the emergency department is also a part of the role. Regular shift documentation in an Electronic Medical Record system is required. Nurses will pass medications, manage admissions and discharges, and attend team rounds to share relevant information. Creating patient and family education materials and performing nursing interventions for chronic and acute mental health diagnoses are expectations for this role. Candidates will work in a locked/secured unit or facility, and weekend and holiday shifts will be mandatory. Previous charge experience is a plus. All candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with no exceptions. Successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training will be provided within the first month of the contract. References from managers within the past 12 months are required. Candidates should be prepared to float within the hospital when necessary. The hiring facility provides behavioral personal protective equipment as required. Candidates are not eligible for rehire if they have previously worked for the organization within the last year. The role involves caring for pediatric patients aged 4-18 with various behavioral health diagnoses. Patient ratios may vary, and staff will need to adhere to safety protocols while inpatient.
