Senior Regulatory Accounting and Transformation Manager

The Senior Regulatory Accounting & Transformation Manager is responsible for leading regulatory and statutory financial reporting, accounting operations, compliance, and finance transformation initiatives. This role oversees GAAP and statutory reporting, regulatory filings, audit support, internal controls, and process improvement efforts while driving automation and operational excellence across the accounting function.

The ideal candidate combines deep insurance accounting expertise with strong leadership skills and a proven ability to improve processes, strengthen controls, and implement technology-driven solutions in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead quarterly and annual accounting close processes for GAAP and statutory reporting.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of NAIC, statutory, and regulatory financial filings.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), GAAP, and insurance regulatory reporting requirements.
• Monitor and implement accounting and regulatory changes, evaluating impacts across the organization.
• Direct cost accounting activities, expense allocations, reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and internal control standards.
• Partner with internal and external auditors to support audits and resolve findings.
• Provide executive-level financial analysis, reporting, and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on process standardization, automation, reporting efficiency, and control enhancements.
• Drive adoption of AI-enabled and technology solutions that improve reporting accuracy, data quality, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with Finance, Technology, Compliance, and business stakeholders to enhance systems, processes, and governance.
• Develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team, fostering accountability, engagement, and professional growth.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience

• 7+ years of experience in regulatory accounting, statutory reporting, financial reporting, or accounting operations.
• Insurance industry accounting experience with strong knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and NAIC reporting requirements.
• Experience managing accounting close processes, audits, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting functions.
• Demonstrated success leading process improvement, transformation, or automation initiatives.

Technical Skills

• Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, financial systems, accounting processes, and regulatory reporting.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and reporting capabilities.

Leadership Skills

• Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in statutory accounting, regulatory reporting, and finance transformation.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience leading large-scale automation and process transformation initiatives.
• Knowledge of risk management, SOX, COSO, or related control frameworks.
• Experience evaluating or implementing AI-enabled finance solutions.
• Advanced project management and executive presentation skills.

Salary

• $140,000 - $185,000 base salary
