The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue to work full-time in public service jobs. Click the link below for more information. Sheriff's Department Disqualifier Description: This position provides comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Child Welfare Division. The person hired in this position will be responsible for processing paperwork for the Permanency Planning Program to include executing financial reconciliations, keying and tracking foster care payments, managing logs of foster care and adoption placements, billing and reimbursements, entering data into state systems, and running reports for management staff. The person in this position will be responsible for managing Child Welfare’s primary phone line and will assist with maintaining the Child Welfare filing system, supply requests, vehicle use logs, and other duties as assigned. This position requires the ability to perform basic mathematical skills, at times frequent walking and/or sitting, the ability to use a computer and telephone system, the ability to work independently when assigned tasks and great organizational and communication skills. Requirements: Graduation from a high school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and three years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an accounting office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred. Note: In accordance with State mandates and the Halifax County Emergency Operations Plan, Halifax County Social Services staff are required to staff emergency shelters during times of disaster. Please be advised that every staff person is eligible to be assigned to an emergency shelter or Emergency Operations Center. Compensation: The hiring range for this position is $37,164 - $41,561. Halifax County provides a comprehensive employee benefits package, including membership in the N.C. Local Government Employees’ Retirement System.
