Full Time Allen Marine Inc, Sitka, AK, US Salary Range: $30.00 To $35.00 Annually Summary The Welder II is responsible for performing a wide range of welding and fabrication tasks. This role requires a high level of technical skills including the ability to interpret detailed drawings and consistently produce high quality welds. The Welder II supports vessel construction, repair and modification projects. Assisting and guiding Welder III employees with less experience while maintaining productivity and safety standards is required. Perform intermediate to advanced welding using MIG, TIG and stick processes on a variety of materials, including aluminum and steel. Independently interpret blueprints, drawing and weld symbols to complete assigned tasks accurately. Fit, align and assemble components with minimal supervision, ensuring proper tolerances and structural integrity. Execute complex welds, including anti-pass welds and out-of-position welding (vertical, overhead, etc.). Inspect welds forquality, ensuring compliance with company standards and applicable codes. Troubleshoot fit-up and welding issues and make necessary adjustments in the field or shop. Assist in layout and material planning for fabrication projects. Mentor and guide junior Welding staff (Welder III), supporting skill development and productivity. Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper setup for various tasks and materials. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols. Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to ensure project timelines and quality expectations are met. Special projects may be assigned as required by the business. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) High school diploma or equivalent required. 2-5 years of welding and fabrication experience, preferably in a marine or heavy industrial environment. Demonstrated proficiency in multiple welding processes and positions. Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and welding symbols. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Problem solving and troubleshooting abilities. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Valid US driver’s license and a clean driving record. Must pass a security background check and DOT drug test. Preferred Qualifications Formal welding training or certification preferred. Familiarity with aluminum welding strongly preferred. Ability to stand, bend, kneel and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods. Comfortable working in confined spaces. Able to work at heights. Physically able to wear all PPE including a welding hood, respirator and protective clothing. Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to walk on uneven deck surfaces crossing from vessel to vessel. This is a fast-paced and dynamic work environment with a diverse workforce. May require overtime, weekend work or travel depending on project needs. Ability to work aflexible schedule to include weekends and holidays during thetour season.
