TITLE: Registered Behavior Technician


PRIMARY FUNCTION:


The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will provide behavioral interventions in the school setting, utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to teach communication, social, and daily living skills, while reducing problematic behaviors. The RBT will work directly with students to implement behavior intervention plans, collect data, assist in assessments, and support the Behavior Analyst, Behavior Coordinator, and School Psychologist as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensing/Certification:

• Valid North Carolina Driver's License
• Completion of a BACB approved RBT course and successful completion of the RBT certification exam

Education:

• Associate's degree preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

• At least five (5) years of successful experience working with children with Autism or related developmental disabilities in a school or clinical setting
• Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Follow prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols
• Provide direct services to students, both 1:1 and in group settings, using a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training
• Collect, record, and summarize data related to student progress
• Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding student progress under the guidance of the Behavior Analyst
• Maintain client confidentiality in adherence to FERPA and HIPAA laws.
• Assist with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessments
• Prepare client materials as instructed by the Behavior Analyst or Behavior Coordinator
• Conduct professional development sessions with school staff and/or parents
• Abide by school policies, the Board of Education's guidelines, and the code of ethics outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

• Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) practices and behavioral interventions
• Ability to interpret and implement clinical protocols and written instructions
• Commitment to ongoing training and professional development
• Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
• Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

REPORTS TO: EC Director/Principal

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to assist in lifting and carrying students with adaptive equipment
• Must be able to maintain various postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods
• Must be able to restrain, hold, transport, and engage in quick body movements as required by the behavior intervention plan
• Ability to use manual dexterity for data collection on electronic devices
• Must be physically present at the assigned job location
• Must have the visual acuity to read and comprehend written materials

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to work in office and public school environments, engaging directly with staff and students
• Travel is required to various schools and Central Services offices
• Work is typically done in an office setting or within school environments with occasional direct student interaction

Salary Grade: 67

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months


FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
