divh2Operations Intern/h2pCalPortlands Materials Division is seeking a motivated Operations Intern to gain comprehensive exposure to the building materials industry. This internship is designed to provide a well-rounded understanding of our materials business. The intern will work closely with experienced team members, contributing to projects that impact daily operations and strategic initiatives./ppResponsibilities:/pulliComplete Safety and MSHA training and any other site/job specific required training/liliCarry-out and practice all safety practices per MSHA/company rules and regulations/liliLearn about all aspects of the operation, to include mining, processing, quality control, and heavy equipment repair/liliAssist in routine housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities/liliComplete summer-long projects, to possibly involve research, involvement with plant personnel, interface with other CalPortland departments, outside government agencies, task training, data collection, reporting, etc./liliLearn about other CalPortland departments and interface as required/liliPresent project summary to management staff/liliPerform plant tasks as assigned/li/ulpEducation:/ppCurrently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Concrete Industry Management or a related discipline./ppRequirements/Qualifications:/pulliGood attendance and punctual/liliAbility to work a flexible schedule./liliAbility to work independently and in a team setting/liliAbility to lift at least 50 lbs. and perform physical labor in inclement weather/liliMust possess valid drivers license, insurance and be insurable to drive company vehicles/liliPreferred: Experience with equipment management software/liliPrior experience or internship in construction or building materials industry/li/ulpConditions of Employment:/ppSuccessful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
