Job Title Distribution Engineer Location Austin, TX (Remote within Texas acceptable) Job Type Hybrid Requisition ID 11168 Responsibilities We are seeking a Distribution Engineer to join our Austin, TX office. The position focuses on electric utility distribution system design, analysis, planning, protection, and consulting. Duties include applying the National Electrical Safety Code for strength and clearance calculations, performing construction inspections, and using distribution system analysis software for steady-state and transient studies. The role also involves developing long-range and capital construction planning studies, performing protective coordination studies, and may extend to power quality reviews, reliability, distribution automation, smart grid, and communications. Qualifications 5+ years’ experience with increasing responsibility in the electrical utility market. Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. Registered Professional Engineer in Texas or can obtain within 6 months. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting. High motivation for success and willingness to take on increasing responsibilities. Working knowledge of distribution construction standards and the National Electric Safety Code. Familiarity with USDA Rural Utilities Services design bulletins and lending program requirements. Proficiency in the design, construction, and maintenance practices of electrical distribution systems with an eye to constructability. Experience reviewing designs completed by other distribution engineers or designers. Experience mentoring and leading less experienced distribution designers and engineers. Experience assuming project lead responsibilities including meeting production targets, budgets, and project deliverables. Experience assisting in marketing business opportunities with key clients and developing responses to RFP/RFQs.
