Data Analytics Engineer

Role Description

The Data Analytics Engineer focuses on data preparation and front-end business intelligence. Working within a collaborative team, this role is responsible for:

• Cleaning, aggregating, and structuring raw operational data related to schools, colleges, and corporate partners.
• Designing, developing, and maintaining high-performing dashboards and visual reports using Looker to identify key trends and patterns.
• Writing clean, optimized SQL queries and managing database view configurations for smooth, rapid, and accurate frontend reporting.
• Partnering with team members to gather operational requirements and translating complex tracking metrics into intuitive layouts.
• Implementing rigorous validation checks to ensure dashboard numbers align with actual system records and contributing to internal documentation.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for educational equity, youth development, and contributing to closing the gender gap in STEM fields.
• Solid proficiency in relational databases and visual analytics platforms (specifically MySQL and Looker Studio).
• Strong mastery of writing, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex SQL queries. Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis is advantageous.
• A strong analytical mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment, turning raw system numbers into clear, readable, and intuitive visual layouts.
• Comfortable navigating and utilizing Jira for task tracking and Google Workspace for documentation and collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline) or equivalent practical professional experience.

Requirements

• Minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week.
• $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
