Robot ProgrammerFor over 35 years, Peak Technologies has been at the forefront of providing end-to-end enterprise mobility, managed services, printing and mobile data capture solutions for performance-driven organizations focused on the optimization of supply chain and field-based business processes.Job Summary & ScopeThe Robot Programmer is responsible for supporting the setup, programming, debugging, and deployment of robotic systems, primarily Fanuc robots—within automotive body shop environments. This position requires in-depth knowledge of General Motors (GM) robotic standards and a demonstrated ability to manage robot commissioning from power-up to production readiness. This role involves providing plant support, mentoring peers, and delivering technical guidance in high-paced customer environments. Shift work and regular travel to customer sites are required.Key Accountabilities:Commission robotic systems from power-on through production handoffProgram and debug Fanuc robots using the teach pendant in alignment with GM standardsSupport and guide peers in robot programming, dressing, and recovery methodsCreate and implement off-line robot programs and controller backupsInterface with end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) and provide tooling adjustment supportSupervise programming teams and manage manpower schedules at customer sitesConfigure and validate Fanuc DCS (Position Speed Check)Interpret and apply control schematics and troubleshoot robotic interfacesCollaborate with mechanical and controls engineering teams to optimize system functionalityTrain customer personnel on robot operation, maintenance, and system recoveryMaintain high levels of safety, professionalism, and communication at customer facilitiesEducation + Experience + Key Traits:Must Have:2+ years of robotics experience; Fanuc robot experience requiredStrong familiarity with General Motors robot standards (GRS certification required)Demonstrated experience in robotic system debug and troubleshootingFanuc DCS certification requiredAbility to read and interpret electrical and controls printsExceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilityAbility to work collaboratively on-site with customer teams and internal resourcesMust have dependable transportation and willingness to travel regularlyProfessional demeanor with excellent communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Engineering degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical EngineeringAIA certification or background in vision-guided robotics (optional but a plus)Experience with robot-guided picking/placing/inspection systemsFamiliarity with Fusion 360 or similar mechanical CAD toolsUnderstanding of PLC controls and I/O integrationWorking Conditions:Regular travel to automotive customer plants requiredMay require standing, kneeling, or climbing in and around robotic cellsRequires use of standard PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in plant environmentsShift flexibility required based on project schedulingTypical Performance TargetsProject Execution: On-time commissioning of robotic systems aligned to customer timelinesQuality of Work: High accuracy in programming and minimal rework required during debugCustomer Satisfaction: Consistent positive feedback from customer plant personnelKnowledge Transfer: Demonstrated ability to mentor junior programmers and plant tradesLanguage SkillsPrimary language used in daily operations is English.
