Building Automation Engineer

Facilities Engineer / Building Automation Engineer

Duration: 6+ Months Contract

Locations: Lafayette, CO 80026; Tempe, AZ; Irvine, CA; Santa Ana, CA

Travel: Up to 25%, depending on the primary work location and business needs

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Experience with project management and project coordination
  • Experience managing and overseeing external vendors and contractors
  • Hands-on experience with BAS hardware and systems, preferably Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, and/or Distech

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and mark up drawings, specifications, equipment, and system designs for BAS projects across Medtronic sites.
  • Manage and/or provide oversight for small to moderately sized BAS projects, as well as individual milestones within larger projects, from concept through execution.
  • Manage the financial aspects of BAS projects, including preparing and submitting RFP/bid documents, creating and tracking purchase orders, and preparing capital expenditure requests.
  • Create, review, and execute project commissioning documentation.
  • Lead the continuous improvement, implementation, and modification of BAS standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Independently establish objectives and priorities to successfully complete assigned tasks and projects.
  • Lead and manage contractors responsible for the installation, programming, and commissioning of BAS components.
  • Perform inspection, troubleshooting, and testing of pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and digital control equipment.
  • Provide training and technical support to Maintenance and Facilities personnel on BAS operations and systems.
  • Work within controlled cleanroom environments while following all applicable SOPs, safety requirements, and site guidelines.
  • Participate in long-term BAS strategy, contingency planning, and technology initiatives.
  • Identify and implement new technologies while proactively monitoring and mitigating risks associated with equipment end-of-life and obsolescence.
  • Provide off-hours support, both onsite and remotely, as required by business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with operational policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Accurately document completed work, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions within the CMMS.
