Location & Compensation Socorro General Hospital, 1202 Highway 60, Socorro, NM 87801-3914 Pay Range: Minimum $16.36 - Maximum $22.29 per hour Job Overview This role supports the patient encounter process by accurately completing registration tasks, ensuring precise data capture to prevent denials, and securing required financial payments at the time of service. The position verifies insurance eligibility, explains required documents, and uses contract knowledge to address provider network questions. It also provides patient comfort rounding, communicates delays, begins training on kiosk usage, and performs additional duties as assigned. Type of Opportunity Part‑time, Exempt: No, Shift: Varied Days and Hours Responsibilities Achieve exceptional patient experience for patients and families using CARES, AIDET, and EPE tools. Manage conflict and request supervisor help when needed. Monitor and maintain lobby waiting areas for cleanliness and offer comfort cart rounding. Keep patients informed of delays. Perform the patient registration process, collect accurate data, guide informed dialogue, and obtain signatures. Answer questions regarding hospital operations, policies, and provider‑based billing. Investigate insurance eligibility via electronic tools. Collect patient financial obligations, refer to Financial Advocate or Advocacy Center, and balance cash daily. Formulate accurate telephone encounter messages and route to the appropriate Epic in‑basket. Instruct patients on the Release of Information process and ensure ROI forms are submitted. Obtain incoming records, document receipt, and prepare for scanning into the electronic health record. Facilitate paperwork completions: prescriptions, handicap placards, disability forms, patient relations. Manage patient relations regarding late arrivals for pre‑scheduled appointments and resolve situations while maintaining a customer‑focused approach. Respond quickly to distressed patients and follow the Clinic Manager’s guidelines. Keep registration and waiting areas clear and safe. Complete annual competency for Clerical Staff during a CodeBlue. Perform quality‑improvement tasks such as overdue result letters, appointment reminder calls, and rescheduling. Demonstrate CARES behaviors (Collaborate, Accountable, Respect, Engage, Serve) in all interactions. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. At least nine (9) months of experience in office, healthcare, or customer‑service environments. General knowledge of the customer encounter process (scheduling, registration, contract requirements, financial guidelines, coordination of services, billing process). Must pass EPIC competency for Registration after completing the Epic Clerical Training class. Attend quarterly MSO meetings, staff meetings, and employee forums.
