Job Overview - Community Support Specialist
Compensation: $28/hour
Location: Bronx, NY
Schedule: Monday to Friday (In-Office)

TAG MedStaffing is hiring a Community Support Specialist in Bronx, NY for our client, providing outreach, administrative coordination, and participant support within a community-based program. This role will communicate with individuals and families, assist with program-related processes, maintain accurate information, and connect participants with appropriate resources and services. The ideal candidate has strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills with experience in human services, community outreach, social services, or a related environment.


Responsibilities as the Community Support Specialist:

• Community Outreach: Conduct targeted outreach and recruitment activities to identify prospective foster parents and increase community awareness of foster care opportunities.
• Applicant Support: Respond to prospective foster parent inquiries and guide applicants through orientation, screening, documentation, and certification requirements.
• Home Certification: Interview applicants, conduct home visits, collect required documentation, and support licensing and recertification processes.
• Training & Education: Facilitate orientations, training sessions, support groups, and educational activities for prospective and current foster parents.
• Family Engagement: Build relationships with foster families and internal teams to promote caregiver engagement, retention, and successful placements.
• Case Documentation: Maintain accurate applicant records, prepare required documentation, and track recruitment and certification activities in accordance with program requirements.

Qualifications for the Community Support Specialist:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is required.
• Bilingual: Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
• Experience: Previous experience in foster care, child welfare, family services, community outreach, recruitment, or a related human services setting is preferred.
• Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of foster care, family engagement, caregiver recruitment, trauma-informed services, or home certification processes is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation or case management systems is preferred.
• Skills & Attributes: Excellent verbal and written communication, relationship-building, organization, outreach, and interpersonal skills are required.
