Linux Administrator

Salary: $130,000 - $140,000 Location: Monterey, California. Full-time on-site at the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC). The Senior Linux Administrator supports systems that process high-volume satellite data, integrating new data flows, ensuring downstream applications can manage data, and maintaining HPC and virtualized infrastructure. Duties include system integration, performance investigation, LDAP/IdM management, NAS file storage administration, backup support, and compliance with DISA STIG requirements. Responsibilities Integrate new satellite data types and ensure downstream applications handle varied formats, sizes, and storage. Maintain and support multicore HPC and virtualized infrastructure, including mail, DNS, IdM/LDAP, and data routing systems. Investigate system performance across networks, storage, and patch management. Perform operational testing, validation, and documentation for HPC systems. Ensure cybersecurity compliance and regular system backups. Provide recommendations for HPC, satellite, and related systems support. Manage LDAP/IdM provisioning via RedHat Satellite Server. Provide UI guidance and technical assistance to the HPC Linux customer base. Administer NAS file storage in classified and unclassified environments. Daily backup support and maintenance of backup integrity. Maintain compliance with DISA STIG and other security requirements. Collaborate with a team of engineers for problem resolution. Required Experience 3+ years supporting Linux systems and subsystems, including storage and backup solutions in an operational environment. Experience provisioning Linux systems and performing operational testing. Security of Linux systems using tools such as STIG and vulnerability scanners. Knowledge of project management processes and documentation. Ability to draft technical documentation for users, operators, and system analysts. Strong communication skills. Active Top Secret Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Security+ CE Certification (or comparable). Training and experience supporting RedHat Enterprise Linux.
