Responsibilities Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and academic experience. Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high quality education opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well-being. Qualifications Education – Level 03 – School Nurse (Practical): Successful completion of a 2-year Associate Degree in practical nursing program with license and 2 years experience. Level 03 – School Nurse (Registered): Completion of a full professional nursing program with license OR Bachelor's Degree with license and no experience required. Level 04 – School Nurse (Registered): Bachelor's Degree with license and 1 year experience; OR Master's Degree with license and no experience required. The education requirement for School Nurse requires a degree or diploma from a practical nursing program for practical nurses or professional nursing program for registered nurses approved by the legally designated State‑accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Registered nurse applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. An applicant who has graduated from an approved nursing educational program within the past 12 months may be appointed pending State registration as a professional nurse within 6 months of appointment. No person appointed pending registration may be retained beyond 6 months, or promoted, if registration has not been attained. Physical and Professional Requirements Good distant vision in one eye and ability to read printed material the size of typewritten characters without strain; glasses permitted. Ability to hear conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid. An amputation of an arm, hand, leg or foot will not disqualify an applicant for appointment, although it may be necessary that this condition be compensated by use of satisfactory prosthesis.
