Fishery Biologist 1

This Fishery Biologist 1 position serves as the lead dockside sampler for commercial shellfish fisheries in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands, based in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Primary duties include collecting size frequency and species composition data from commercial landings, interviewing vessel operators, entering fishery data into databases, training new samplers, and assisting with fisheries management tasks. This is a full-time permanent seasonal 8-month position working both indoors and outdoors, with potential travel to remote ports during the fishing season. Key qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biology, fisheries science, oceanography, or natural resource management Experience working in the field, collecting data, data entry, and data QA/QC Experience using computers, software applications, and databases Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently in remote locations Valid driver's license required; First Aid/CPR certification (training provided) #J-18808-Ljbffr
