Entry-level Electrical Engineer

Salas O'Brien is seeking an Entry-level Electrical Engineer to join our Oakland team. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer interested in building electrical systems and consulting engineering.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers and Professional Engineers on the design of power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, and other building systems while gaining experience in design, construction documents, field investigations, and construction administration.

What You'll Do

• Assist with electrical system design and engineering calculations.
• Develop plans, one-line diagrams, schedules, and details using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Participate in site surveys and field investigations throughout the Bay Area.
• Coordinate designs with architects, contractors, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
• Support specifications, reports, submittals, RFIs, and construction administration.
• Learn and apply the NEC, California Electrical Code, energy codes, and local requirements.
• Develop your technical and project skills through mentorship and hands-on project experience.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in building systems and consulting engineering.
• Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT certification or plans to pursue it.
• Internship, co-op, or relevant project experience.
• Familiarity with Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Exposure to power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, or low-voltage design.
• Interest in pursuing PE licensure.

Travel : Limited Travel up to 10%

The expected base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000 USD per year . Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
