Build, Install, and Be Home for Dinner

Join a two-person field crew bringing custom awnings, canopies, tensioned shade systems, and fabric shelters to life across the Twin Cities. You’ll roll out in the morning from Otsego, MN, handle your installs around the metro, and be home most evenings. One day might be a sleek storefront canopy; the next, a shade sail over a busy patio or a seasonal cover change at a car wash.

A couple of times a month, the work gets more complex: structural installs that demand sharp problem-solving—anchoring to diverse building types, adapting to site conditions, and making the plan work when drawings and reality don’t perfectly line up. Out-of-town trips are uncommon (about once a quarter for 3–4 nights).

When field work slows, you’ll keep growing—cross-training in our shop on welding, metal fabrication, sewing, and facilities projects. No idling, just skill-building.

Compensation & Benefits

• $25–$30/hr, based on experience

What You’ll Bring

• Background in general construction, framing, roofing, siding, sign installation, welding, or similar trades
• Comfortable at height on ladders and aerial lifts
• Ability to read tape measurements and interpret drawings to problem-solve on site
• Mechanical intuition—how things go together just makes sense to you
• Clean driving record and a valid Class D driver’s license
• Able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
• Reliable, communicative, and consistent

Experience with awnings or shade structures is a bonus, not a must. If you’ve got hands-on trade skills and the right attitude, we’ll teach you the rest.

Your Toolkit & Experience

• Troubleshooting and mechanical diagnostics
• Construction site installation and field measurements
• Mechanical assembly, framing, rough/finish carpentry
• Truck operations and load securement
• Maintenance and repair fundamentals
• Awning installation and sign installation familiarity

Tools & Tech You’ll Use

• MIG and TIG welders
• Flatbed/pickup trucks and other automotive vehicles
• Sit-down forklifts, forklifts, electric pallet jacks
• Aerial devices/lifts
