Electrical Design Engineer

The Staff Engineer, Electrical Design develops new electrical systems/circuits for various applications. Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed. The Staff Engineer, Electrical Design works in cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development. Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations. This role will be focused in the A&D space with consultation in Health Tech, Energy, and Industrial. Detailed Description Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling. Provides technical leadership and direction to a sizable team of engineers. May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.). Reviews and interprets customer requirements/specifications and may act as primary customer contract. Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develops deployment strategies and plans. Leads the deployment of strategic complex programs and coordinates site-wide deployment efforts. May manage relationships with key vendors/partners. Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc. Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations Solve complex problems Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams. Analyze and interpret data and information Recommend modifications for systems Create reports, minutes and updates May be a recognized expert (go to person) in one or more technical areas. Project Management - Ability to manage/lead complex, multiple line engineering projects that may also involve other functions. Demonstrate solid understanding of the technical, financial and people aspects of the project. Able to create a project/change management plan and ensure that the project is delivered within the assigned time and budget. Ability to recognize project barriers and develop mitigation plans. Financial Acumen / Business Planning - Ability to create financial plans for your projects, align them internally with your line of management and other functions and externally if needed. Create project plans, profitability calculations, risk and sensitivity analysis, able to recognize barriers and mitigate profitability risks. Fully knowledgeable about internal and external financial reporting, accounting and tax requirements relevant to your area of expertise.
