Child and Youth Program Training & Curriculum Specialist

CYP T&C SPECIALIST
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide comprehensive training to CYP staff: orient new employees, develop and schedule training plans, conduct department‑wide trainings and specialized sessions, maintain training records, and support career progression. Assist in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum/program for children and youth aged 6 weeks to 18 years, ensuring alignment with Navy standards. Support classroom and program operations: evaluate environment, equipment, lesson plans, and activity schedules; recommend resources; observe operations to assess competency and provide feedback. Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and accreditation requirements; prepare for inspections and maintain EEO policies. Act as interim leader in the absence of the CYP Director and report mandatory incidents to Family Advocacy and Child Protective Services. Attend to additional duties as assigned and provide a full list of responsibilities upon hire.QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of child and youth development principles, child abuse prevention regulations, and DoD certification standards. Experience training adult learners and developing curriculum outlines, courses of study, lesson plans, and workshops. Ability to guide, lead, and evaluate staff and emergency response. Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written. Short‑term or long‑term educational qualifications as detailed below (Master's, Bachelor's, or combination with equivalent experience). Note: Submit copies of degrees or transcripts; provide high school diploma if degree not yet awarded.REQUIREMENTS
Must satisfactorily complete all background checks for child care positions, including fingerprint, Tier 1, Tier 3 (if applicable), and State Criminal History Repository. Must pass a pre‑employment physical, meet immunization requirements, and be free of communicable diseases. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Must obtain and maintain required security clearance. Must complete required training certificates and maintain certifications mandated by Federal, State, and national accreditation bodies. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within first 30 days is required. Drug testing: marijuana is illegal; a positive result will result in withdrawal of offer and ineligibility for 6 months. All personnel must complete the Installation Records Check covering substance abuse, family advocacy, and security. Automatic disqualification applies for certain criminal convictions. Candidates must uphold the rule of law and maintain a drug‑free workplace.BENEFITS
