Occupational Therapist - Acute Care

This is a 13-week contract position.

Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

The Occupational Therapist will provide quality occupational therapy services to patients in the hospital acute care setting. The position focuses on planning and executing treatment programs based on evaluations and objectives to enhance patient care and recovery.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement effective treatment programs based on patient evaluations.
• Utilize various assessment techniques to record findings and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Document patient treatments, responses, and progress in their medical records.
• Provide training in daily living skills, vocational skills, and homemaking activities.
• Coordinate activities that assist patients in developing or regaining physical or mental functions.
• Instruct patients and families on exercises, mobility skills, and body mechanics for home continuity.
• Evaluate and fit prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modifications as needed.
• Communicate pertinent care updates and progress to relevant team members.
• Supervise and instruct assistants, aides, and students in therapy activities.
• Manage supply requisitions and maintain tools and materials for therapy sessions.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program is required.
• Current occupational therapy licensure is mandatory.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
• Prior experience in a hospital, nursing home, or outpatient setting is preferred.
