Position Overview The Director of Operations – Dixon under the supervision of the VP of Operations, West, is responsible for managing the day‑to‑day operations to ensure that our Dixon facility is well‑managed and performing efficiently and effectively. Principal Responsibilities Ensure that supervisory personnel effectively schedule labor to produce both efficient and responsive support for our purchasing and sales departments. Responsible for facility profit and loss statement and attainment of budget goals. Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identify opportunities for improvement. Using historical data and industry benchmarks, forecast and prepare the operating budget. Identify short to long term strategic needs of the organization and execute plans for implementation. Responsible for overall business planning including disaster planning, work stoppages and risk management. Control operating expenses and shrinkage, investigate discrepancies and deviations to ensure that the operating budget is achieved. Improve customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes. Ensure that all facility employees are provided with a clean, safe, and orderly work environment. Develop and administer safety incentive programs to motivate employees. Control workers compensation costs through proactive case management and employee safety awareness training. Supervise management direct reports as well as employees. Demonstrate a high degree of leadership, initiative and integrity to cultivate and develop subordinate staff. Promote the training and development of support staff with the goal of employee improvement and advancement. Create an atmosphere where employees and management strive for the same common team goal. Chair various round table discussions to educate employees, solicit employee feedback, resolve conflicts, foster open communication, and promote employee involvement in the decision‑making process. Involve employees in the process of change and improve employee morale. Use insight to recognize what must be done, reason, use common sense, good judgement and utilize good decision‑making skills. Use management tools to identify, correct and prevent operation and labor related problems. Required Skills Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business and finance. Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Superior managerial and diplomacy skills. Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills. Thorough understanding of DOT work regulations and rules. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in business administration is preferred. Extensive and diversified background with at least 5 years of related management experience. Experience and working knowledge of transportation routing and vehicle tracking programs is highly desired. Knowledge of DOT, State, and Federal transportation regulations. Salary $120,000-130,000 + 20% bonus Working Conditions and Physical Demands Professional office environment. Primary office environment is ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques are required. May include lifting up to 25 pounds on occasion.
