About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Department Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 11:00 - 23:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current RN license in Kansas Certifications: ACLS, BLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC Must-Have: CEN or TCRN certification preferred Description: The Emergency Department has a total of 24 beds. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4. There is a unit secretary available for 21 hours a day. There is a core team of 5 RNs from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The unit is equipped with a Level 1 fluid warmer and a GE monitor system. Other equipment includes Lifepak and Alaris pumps. Documentation is done through a Meditech system. Scheduling includes every third weekend with a mid-shift schedule. Shifts can start as early as 10:00 AM and can end as late as 1:30 AM. Floating to other departments is rare and only occurs if other staff have been sent home. Patient experience is prioritized with the use of AIDET and whiteboards. A positive attitude and a supportive culture are essential. Candidates should have experience in trauma care, STEMI care, stroke care, sepsis, and triage. All procedures associated with a Level 2 trauma center are performed on this unit. Dress code requires cobalt blue tops and black or cobalt blue pants. Solid colors are mandatory, along with closed-toe shoes.
