The WEM Head & Neck Inpatient Unit at Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown is generally a highly specialized oncology/surgical oncology unit rather than a traditional Med/Surg floor. Winship's cancer hospital model is organized around disease-specific cancer care communities, and Head & Neck is one of the major oncology service lines treated within the institute. Patients you would commonly expect on a Head & Neck oncology unit include: Head and neck cancer patients (oral cavity, tongue, throat, laryngeal, pharyngeal cancers) ENT/Head & Neck surgical oncology patients Free flap reconstruction patients following tumor resections Tracheostomy patients Laryngectomy patients Complex airway management patients Patients receiving cancer-related treatment and symptom management
