To counsel individuals seeking guidance and assistance.## Education & ExperienceMasters of Divinity from an accredited association of Theological School, and 4 units of clinical pastoral education. One (1) year of experience as a chaplain in a hospital setting preferred. Experience may not be substituted for educational requirement. Ecclesiastical endorsement required. **Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:** Certified or eligible for Chaplaincy Certification. Must obtain certification within two years of hire.## Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of philosophical systems and religions. Knowledge of human behavior. Verbal and written communication skills. Active listening skills. Compassionate interpersonal skills. Knowledge of ethics. **Responsibilities*** Provides counseling and other spiritual education activities for employees, students, and patients.* Supports the end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families.* Administers religious rites or ordinances; prepares and delivers spiritual care services.* Studies, interprets, and teaches religious laws, doctrines, and/or traditions.* Promotes ethical behavior within UMMC and provides consultation on ethical behavior.* Documents spiritual counseling for patients.* Performs other duties as assigned.**Physical and Environmental Demands** Requires occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
