Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)Visalia Post Acute is seeking a motivated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our therapy team. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with residents and an interdisciplinary team to help improve mobility, independence, and overall quality of life.General PurposeThe Physical Therapist Assistant assists the Physical Therapist with resident-related activities and provides direct resident care in accordance with physician orders, treatment plans, and regulatory guidelines.Essential DutiesEvery effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position; however, this does not imply that these are the only duties you will be required to perform.Treat residents as directed by the Physical Therapist.Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with facility, regulatory, and payer requirements.Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control, safety, and equipment protocols.Participate in resident care conferences and rehabilitation meetings as needed.Remain compliant with California laws and regulations related to physical therapy practice.Assist nursing staff with training and support of Restorative Aides.Communicate regularly with the supervising Physical Therapist and interdisciplinary team regarding resident progress, goals, and discharge planning.Provide in-service training programs for facility staff as needed.Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment plans, home exercise programs, safety techniques, and fall prevention strategies.Recommend and assist in obtaining durable medical equipment (e.g., walkers, canes, splints, grab bars).Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information at all times.Report equipment issues to ensure proper maintenance and safety.Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.Maintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, staff, and colleagues.QualificationsEducation and/or ExperienceAssociate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program required.Experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred but not required.Proficiency with EMR systems such as Net Health and PointClickCare (PCC) preferred.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCurrent, active PTA license in the state of California.Must maintain license in good standing.Must meet continuing education requirements per state regulations.CPR certification required (if applicable).Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret technical procedures and policy manuals.Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, and staff.Mathematical SkillsAbility to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.Physical DemandsFrequent standing and walking; occasional sitting.Ability to reach, push, pull, and lift equipment and assist residents.Ability to exert up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds continuously.Ability to assist with resident mobility and transfers using safe patient handling techniques.Requires effective communication, including talking and hearing, as well as visual and sensory awareness for safe care delivery.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a healthcare setting with a low to moderate noise level.
