Dredge Operator
4C RESOURCES LLC
Job Description
Job Description
About the Role:
4C Resources LLC is looking for a skilled Dredge Operator to join our team in Memphis, TN. This is an exciting opportunity to operate heavy equipment in dynamic aquatic and marine environments while playing a critical role in our excavation and dredging operations. If you thrive in hands-on, outdoor work and are passionate about operating complex machinery, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
- Run the dredge in a disciplined, parallel cut pattern tracked against the depth gauge.
- Hold solids concentration by managing advance rate, cut depth, cutterhead angle, and downforce.
- Select and change cutterbars based on material, and choose cable or prop drive to fit the job.
- Operate by radio remote from shore when H2S, atmosphere, or material conditions require it.
- Lay, connect, and maintain discharge pipeline and set booster pumps as needed.
- Recognize velocity loss before a line plugs, and clear plugs safely when they happen.
- Coordinate feed rate with dewatering equipment (geotextile bags, dewatering boxes, shakers, centrifuges).
- Rig in and rig out: transport, launch, retrieve, assemble, and anchor the dredge and support equipment.
- Assess each basin before starting, including depth, material, debris, obstructions, and bank stability.
- Perform daily maintenance and field troubleshooting on hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Keep accurate daily logs of hours, volume moved, depth achieved, downtime, fuel, and maintenance.
- Follow water safety, atmospheric monitoring, and regulated-material disposal requirements without exception.
Requirements:
- 2+ years operating a hydraulic dredge in industrial, environmental, municipal, mining, or marine work. Auger dredge experience is preferred, and cutterhead experience will be considered.
- Strong mechanical aptitude. You'll often be alone with this machine and need to keep it running.
- Working knowledge of pumps and pipelines, including head, friction loss, velocity, and why lines plug.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. A CDL with tanker endorsement is a strong plus.
- Ability to pass background and drug screening and obtain customer site access credentials.
- Physically able to handle hose and pipe, work on floating equipment, and work full shifts outdoors in West Texas weather.
- Willingness to travel and work extended days, nights, and weekends during active projects.
Strongly Preferred
- Mud Cat or other auger dredge experience
- Experience with oilfield pits, produced water ponds, or industrial wastewater lagoons
- Remote dredge operation in H2S or contaminated environments
- Dewatering experience (geotextile bags, dewatering boxes, polymer, shakers, centrifuges)
- Current H2S, OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER 40, SafeLand, or confined space training
- Heavy equipment or excavator operation
Qualified candidates will be asked to demonstrate setup and operation on our equipment before we extend an offer.
