Behavioral Health Technician (Detox)

Job TitleThis position is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for all by monitoring and documenting client's behaviors and vital signs. Works collaboratively with clinicians and credentialed staff to complete routine duties.Duties and Responsibilities:· Prepare patient admission to the facility by completing patient screening, screen for potential medical issues, record patient vitals, and complete all agency forms in the admission packet.· Have a working knowledge of all STARS, Mental Health and other social service agencies within Spokane County and facilitate client movement through identified systems.· Prepare and complete referral and discharge forms.· Search and accurately inventory patient property.· Check and record patient vital signs.· Keep accurate count of all patients and perform periodic room checks.· Assist with medication observation for patients.· Answer phones and refer appropriately.· Conduct educational and informational community meetings.· Ensure safety of patients and staff by following the policies and procedures.· Attend all mandatory staff meetings.· Adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR laws and regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.· General light cleaning such as laundry, mopping and maintaining clean communal areas and workspaces.· Other duties as assigned by Supervisors.· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.Supervisory Responsibilities:· This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Qualifications:· No prior experience or training.· No education requirements.· Computer skills required: Microsoft Office SuiteCompetencies:Ethics - Treats people with respect; Keeps commitments; Inspires the trust of others; Works with integrity and ethically; maintains healthy boundaries with clients and co-workers; Upholds organizational values.Customer Service - Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Promotes a positive image of the company; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Keeps commitments; Maintains good attendance record; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.Initiative – Takes action; seeks new opportunities; Strives to see projects to completion; Asks for and offers help when needed.Teamwork - Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Communicates well; Good listening skills; Able to read and interpret written information.Problem Solving - Ability to identify problems and concerns; uses problem solving skills and prior experiences to make responsible decisions.Documentation - Effectively and accurately communicates client information within an electronic health records system in a timely manner.Job Knowledge - Understands facets of job; Aware of duties and responsibilities; Keeps job knowledge currentPhysical Demands and Work Environment:Frequently required to stand.Frequently required to walk.Occasionally required to sit.Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.Continually required to talk or hear.Frequently exposed to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials.While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
