About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) for its Defense Services business unit. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of shaping the strategic direction of the business, managing its day-to-day operations, and driving results. This role involves close collaboration with the executive team to set and execute long- and short-term strategies, leading the business unit in goal setting, performance planning, and management, and playing a direct role in growing the portfolio of defense services contract work. The COO will also be responsible for maintaining the financial, operational, and performance health of the organization, ensuring alignment with the company's core operations, and building a culture that is diverse, inclusive, equitable, and performance-oriented. Applicants must have experience in the defense services industry, the ability to manage a multi-million-dollar profit & loss business, and a strong understanding of professional services and government contracting. A startup mentality, excellent general management and leadership skills, and a relentless commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential. The role requires superb communication skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to build and manage high-performing teams. While not mandatory, prior experience in the civic tech space and the ability to work in a remote team environment are considered advantageous. The candidate should be passionate about creating better public outcomes through government services and demonstrate a work approach that aligns with the company's core values.
