Case Manager (City of Alameda Drop in Center) In-Person Full-Time (40 hours per week) Position in Alameda, CA (Non-Exempt) Who We Are Ruby's Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is an innovative nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy and connection. Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, substance recovery, and wrap-around services. All our services are trauma-sensitive and client-centered and are provided at no cost to our clients. All programs are low barrier. RP is led by survivors with a focus on reflection, innovation, and connection. We believe in fostering relationships, both in our direct service work and throughout our internal work culture. You are flexible, creative, and take initiative in handling emergencies. What qualifications are required for this position? You Are Also: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. Minimum of two years of experience providing case management or direct services to individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Knowledge of community resources, housing programs, and benefits systems preferred. Experience with HMIS or other data management systems preferred. Strong communication, engagement, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing crisis or complex needs. Experience working in shelter programs, drop-in centers, or outreach programs serving individuals experiencing homelessness. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and housing-first approaches In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by RP insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles. If a staff member cannot be approved by RP insurance as a driver, employment might not be able to continue. Instances where staff cannot be approved to drive will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine if employment can continue in their role without driving agency vehicles. Items considered include but are not limited to: the shift the staff member holds and the frequency/necessity of driving during that shift, the amount of time before the staff member may be approved to drive by the insurance carrier, the availability of other staff on site to drive agency vehicles as program needs require, etc. Able to complete all required background checks. Additional requirements may be deemed necessary, including fingerprinting (Live Scan), completion of all Community Care Licensing (CCL) documents, and ability to meet CCL licensing requirements. What You Will Do The Case Manager provides direct services to individuals accessing the Drop In Center (Day Center, Night Shelter & Safe Park program). This role focuses on supporting participants in addressing immediate needs, identifying barriers to stability, and connecting them to housing resources, benefits, and supportive services. The Case Manager works collaboratively with program staff to ensure participants receive coordinated, participant-centered support aimed at promoting stability and pathways toward housing. The Case Manager plays a critical role in engaging individuals experiencing homelessness, conducting assessments, developing service plans, and supporting participants in accessing resources that support long‑term housing and overall well‑being. This position requires strong engagement skills, a trauma‑informed approach, and experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Responsibilities include Participant Engagement and Assessment Engage participants accessing the Drop In Center to assess needs and identify service priorities. Conduct intake assessments and gather relevant information related to housing history, service needs, and barriers to stability. Build trusting relationships with participants through respectful and trauma-informed engagement. Service Planning and Case Management Develop individualized service plans with participants focused on housing stability and access to supportive resources. Provide ongoing case management support including regular meetings with participants to monitor progress and address barriers. Assist participants in accessing community resources such as healthcare, employment services, benefits, identification services, and other supports. Housing Navigation and Resource Connection Support participants in identifying and pursuing housing opportunities when appropriate. Assist with housing applications, documentation gathering, and referrals to housing programs or rental assistance resources. Coordinate with housing providers, community agencies, and service partners to support participants in accessing housing opportunities. Coordination with Program Staff Work closely with program staff to identify participants who may benefit from case management services. Maintain communication with advocates, site coordinators, and program leadership to ensure participants receive coordinated support. Participate in case consultations and team meetings to discuss participant needs and service strategies. Documentation and Data Entry Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participant interactions, services provided, and case plans. Enter and update participant information in HMIS or other required data systems. Ensure documentation meets program, organizational, and funder requirements. Participant Advocacy and Support Support participants in navigating complex systems and advocating for access to services and resources. Encourage participant engagement in services and support them in working toward their identified goals. Maintain a respectful and participant-centered approach that supports dignity and autonomy. Complete functional timesheets by assigned due dates in compliance with time allocations. Actively participate in reflective supervision sessions. Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures related to job duties. Other duties as assigned. Working Conditions This position requires regular on-site presence and interaction with participants accessing services at the Drop In Center. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress. Local travel in the greater Bay Area may be required.
