Application Deadline 11/1/2026 6:00:59 PM Eastern Time Zone Description The X-ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission (XRISM) is a JAXA/NASA collaborative mission with ESA participation, expected to launch in the fall of 2022. XRISM will conduct high‑resolution, non‑dispersive X‑ray spectroscopy and imaging across a wide field of view. Four science objectives have been identified: (1) Structure formation of the Universe and evolution of clusters of galaxies; (2) Circulation history of baryonic matter in the Universe; (3) Transport and circulation of energy in the Universe; (4) New science with unprecedented high‑resolution X‑ray spectroscopy. The successful applicant will develop and carry out a research program in any area related to the science of XRISM, including theoretical studies, simulations, laboratory astrophysics, spectral model development, or synergistic work with other observatories.
