TRIO Student Support Services Administrative Assistant Position II

Role: This is a grant-funded position dedicated to improving the persistence, graduation, and transfer rates of disadvantaged students in alignment with the U.S. Department of Education's TRIO guidelines. The SSS Advisor provides direct support and coaching services to students who are low-income, first-generation, disabled, and/or academically deficient.

The salary range for this postion is $21.30-$31.93 per hour.

Responsibilities

• 30% Student Recruitment and Evaluation: Recruit, interview, and evaluate potential students for the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program.
• 20% Personalized Student Coaching: Provide one-on-one and group coaching to students in essential areas, including goal-setting, time management, selfadvocacy, and academic/study skills.
  15% Workshop Development and Presentation: assist with various college success workshops, such as financial literacy, financial aid navigation, career exploration, course selection, and degree planning.
  15% Action Plan Development: Assist students in creating and implementing individualized action plans designed to increase their retention and graduation rates. Administer and interpret student assessments to determine academic and personal needs that support ongoing student success.
  15% Program Data and Reporting: Maintain all necessary data and documentation required for program implementation, student tracking, and grant evaluation in Blumen database.
  5 % Ongoing Campus Collaboration and Other Duties: Collaborate with other campus programs to ensure comprehensive support for disadvantaged students. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a related area. Prefer a minimum of two to three years of relevant experience working with a TRIO program or similar related project for disadvantaged and at-risk college students.
• Education: A Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
• Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
• Other Skills: High level of sensitivity to target populations. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. Professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting project participants.
• Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc.
• Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office.
