Key Responsibilities

• Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods including capillary, venous, assisted line, arterial collections, and blood cultures across all age groups
• Provides rapid response to medical emergencies and works across general patient care areas, pediatrics, the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, and Operating Rooms
• Performs accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, transportation, and specimen testing using Point of Care (POC) equipment
• Utilizes strong customer relations and communication skills when interacting with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals
• Works independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining patient confidentiality
• Assists with training students and new employees

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Graduate of a Phlebotomy training program that includes a clinical rotation, OR a minimum of three (3) months of Phlebotomy experience
• National Phlebotomy certification (e.g., NHA, ASCP, or equivalent) must be obtained within 14 months of hire date
• Proficiency with a variety of computer programs and systems
• Ability to push a cart and walk distances throughout the facility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with basic venipuncture, assisted line collections, and blood cultures
