Salary $11,388.00 - $13,842.00 per Month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of an alternate range when applicable. Job Overview The Franchise Tax Board’s Technology Services Division is seeking a senior leader with technical leadership experience to serve as an Assistant Bureau Director of its Enterprise Tax Systems Bureau. Responsibilities Play a critical role in the growth and success of the software development team focused on the FTB’s Case Management and Taxpayer Folder systems. Lead or direct complex enterprise‑level projects to ensure scope is met, deadlines are met, and budgets are adhered to. Oversee all phases of the software development lifecycle to ensure technical solutions meet or exceed the FTB’s operational needs. Mentor and guide several software development teams to help team members reach their full potential. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to coordinate schedules, priorities, project activities, and other time‑sensitive customer needs. Support FTB leadership with strategic planning to ensure the Bureau continues to meet evolving business needs and expectations. Drive impactful and innovative technology solutions to contribute to the FTB’s ongoing success. Minimum Requirements Position: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER II. Salary range: $11,388.00 – $13,842.00 per month. Minimum qualifications as specified in the Classification Specification, including integrity, honesty, reliability, and the ability to comply with state civil service requirements. Desirable Qualifications Proven skill in establishing and maintaining partnerships with executive leadership and business stakeholders. Experience planning and coordinating complex, cross‑functional workloads with accurate completion on time. Demonstrated experience identifying, mitigating, and managing risks to ensure project deliverables are met within budget and schedule constraints. Leadership experience fostering a collaborative team culture and mentoring diverse staff. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information for executives, partners, technical teams, and vendors. Applied knowledge of software development and architectural best practices related to security, accessibility, reliability, scalability, and performance. Strategic and innovative thinking with a history of adopting emerging technologies and guiding teams through change. Experience serving as an effective change agent, adapting leadership styles to evolving situations. Adaptability to shifting priorities and technologies while staying current with industry trends relevant to FTB’s goals. Strong decision‑making and negotiation skills to support broader goals of the Division and the Enterprise. Involvement in diverse activities, programs, and positions that broaden understanding of the department/enterprise.
