Under the general direction and supervision of the Lead Electrical Engineer, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for performing engineering and design activities related to power and control systems for natural gas metering and pressure regulating facilities, LNG facilities, compressed natural gas (CNG) systems, and power distribution projects. This role ensures technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and adherence to applicable codes, standards, and company policies throughout all phases of project execution.

Desired Qualifications

•        Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology.

•        Minimum of five (5) years of electrical system design experience, preferably within the utility, pipeline, or power industries.

•        FE/EIT certification is desired.

•        Professional Engineer (PE) license desired.

•        Proficiency in engineering and office software applications, including AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and related tools.

•        Project management knowledge is preferred.

•        Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.

•        Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

•        Ability to work within tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

•        Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with multidisciplinary teams.

•        Strong attention to detail and proven self-verification methods to reduce or eliminate corrective work.

·       Experience designing electrical and control systems, preferably in hazardous area environments, including:

o   Working knowledge of SCADA systems related to pipeline or municipal infrastructure.

o   Working knowledge of PLC logic, operation, and programming.

o   Low-voltage power and control systems.

o   Hazardous Area Planning, specifically NFPA 497 requirements.

o   Cable and Conduit Sizing.

o   Grounding systems; and

o   Cathodic protection systems

·       Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), including:

o   General wiring methods.

o   Branch circuits.

o   Motors and motor controls.

o   Lighting systems.

o   Low- to medium-voltage single- and three-phase power distribution.

o   Circuit protection.

o   Hazardous location wiring and equipment installation.

o   Intrinsically safe systems; and

o   Grounding and bonding.

Key Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer may be responsible for, but is not limited to, the following:

• Design, size, and specify power and control systems and associated equipment, including transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), instrumentation, and control panels.
• Develop electrical and control system designs in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Direct and review the work of Engineering Technicians and Designer/Drafters in the preparation of electrical and control system drawings.
• Track project progress during fabrication and construction phases and provide ongoing technical support as needed.
• Lead and participate in facility Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
• Create and Maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) throughout the project life cycle, including keeping revision history accurate.
• Perform field engineering activities, including site visits, inspections, troubleshooting, and commissioning support, as required.
• Prepare construction specifications and provide periodic on-site construction administration support.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.
• Lead technical discussions both internally during initial design and review phases of the project, as well as provide technical expertise during client and/or sub-contractor/vendor meetings and written correspondence with the ability to take detailed notes and drive discussions towards feasible solutions.
• Exercise independent judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
• Promote and maintain compliance with company safety programs and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Proactively identify potential project risks and promptly communicate them to the Project Manager and Direct Manager/Lead.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

·       The Electrical Engineer must have knowledge of current codes and standards listed below:  

o   NFPA70 – National Electrical Code

o   NFPA70E – Electrical Safety in the Workplace

o   NFPA 497 – Recommended Practice for the Classification of Flammable Liquids, Gases, or Vapors and of Hazardous (Classified) Locations for Electrical Installations in the Chemical Process Areas

o   NFPA79 - Industrial Machinery

o   NEMA - National Electrical Manufacturers Association

o   IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

Travel Requirements
This is a full-time position performed in a professional office work environment that will require frequent visits to construction sites or operating utility facilities, as the job requires. Travel will be required within the continental U.S. Travel overnight and drive long distances, as required.

Working Conditions

This position may require the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force on occasion, and up to 10 pounds of force on a more frequent basis. The work may require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, grasping, and other repetitive motions. The employee will be subject to predominantly inside environments but may also be required to work outside in hot, cold, or noisy conditions. The employee may also be exposed to airborne pathogens and may be required to follow sanitation protocols and wear personal protective equipment such as masks, respirators, gloves, and other safety gear.
