Tow Truck Operator

Job Description Job Description As a tow truck driver at Newhouse Towing, you will be responsible for safely operating a company truck, assisting customers, and completing a variety of roadside and towing services. This position requires strong awareness, reliability, and the ability to stay calm and professional in fast-paced or high-pressure situations.
What You’ll Do
Perform a daily inspection of your truck before starting your shift
Respond to dispatched calls and maintain communication with dispatch throughout the shift
Safely load, transport, and unload vehicles
Provide roadside services including jump starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and tire changes
Greet customers professionally and assist them when needed
Follow instructions at drop locations and confirm proper vehicle placement
Complete all required paperwork, including invoices and daily till sheets
Take required photos and document each call accurately
Work safely in and around traffic at all times
Maintain and clean company equipment
Work as part of a team and support other drivers when needed
What This Job Requires
Ability to stay calm and make good decisions under pressure
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
Good communication with customers, dispatch, and team members
Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs and perform hands-on work outdoors in all weather
What to Expect
A mix of towing and roadside service calls
A fast-paced environment where calls can vary day to day
Interaction with customers who may be stressed or in difficult situations
Responsibility for your truck, equipment, and documentation
Training
No experience required
Hands-on training provided for the right candidate
Qualified Applicants
Valid driver’s license with no more than 2 citations within the past 5 years
Must be at least 21 years old
Ability to pass a background check (required for insurance and police contract compliance)
Maintain a valid DOT medical card (or ability to obtain and maintain one)
Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings
Reliable transportation to and from work
Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, squatting, and pulling
Maintain a clean, professional appearance
