Leadership Development Program – Distribution Center Manager‑In‑Training This developmental role offers a clear path to advancement. Within 18–24 months, successful candidates may be relocated to lead a distribution center in another market, based on business needs and individual readiness. Base Pay Range: $85,000–$92,000. What You’ll Do Lead and supervise warehouse teams to ensure safety, productivity, and engagement. Support operational planning, inventory accuracy, and on‑time delivery. Collaborate on staffing strategies, performance evaluations, and employee development. Participate in structured training, mentoring, and leadership projects. Prepare for future relocation and promotion into a Distribution Center Manager role. Leadership and Supervision Ensure a safe work environment by leading safety programs, training, certifications, enforcement of safety procedures, and addressing safety issues. Utilize coaching, teaching and training to develop successful team members. Collaborate with leadership on employee initiatives to create and promote an environment where team members are involved, empowered, and committed. Assist in the development and execution of strategies for recognition, engagement, and teambuilding. Collaborate with management on staffing design to respond to workflow variations. Monitor labor hours and consult on budgetary and operational impact. Provide input into performance assessments and recommend promotions, counseling or termination. Assist Distribution Center Manager with performance conversations, coaching, counseling, and discipline. Assist with scheduling staffing to meet changing daily business needs. Supervise and provide direction for associates. Assist with interviewing and recommending hires. Ensure all records and reports are prepared on a timely and effective basis. Operations Execute daily operations: monitor productivity and quality, troubleshoot processes, ensure safety, inventory accuracy, on‑time deliveries, and customer satisfaction. Plan, organize, and monitor receiving, storage, assembly (if applicable) and distribution of all items from vendors. Assist in inventory control training and execution of cycle counts and physical inventory counts. Resolve inventory control discrepancies. Perform relocation, replenishment and consolidation of product as required. Monitor daily production and performance of the distribution center. Reallocate resources (staffing, equipment) as needed. Assist in allocating and maintaining equipment to ensure efficient use and appropriate maintenance. Professional Development Work with Distribution Center Managers and perform delegated responsibilities with the goal of becoming a Distribution Center Manager. Adhere to program guidelines for experiences and training. Observe associated and leaders to acquire knowledge of procedures and standards. Learn techniques to direct daily operations: scheduling, monitoring productivity and quality, troubleshooting, ensuring safety, inventory accuracy, on‑time deliveries, and customer satisfaction. Tour the warehouse regularly to evaluate operations and assist with problem solving. Assist with maintaining location cleanliness and supply levels. Follow all company operations policies. Complete the Distribution Center Trainer certification and deliver safety & operational training programs. Make recommendations to improve overall distribution center operations. Participate in a learning project assignment and deliver results aligned to objectives. Position Requirements Bachelor’s Degree preferred; experience can substitute for degree requirements. Minimum 5 years operations experience with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products. Strong organizational skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with WMS, TMS and ERP systems. Compliance with Dealer Tire’s Motor Vehicle Record Policy and Company Vehicle Fleet Policy; operating company vehicle safely and wearing safety belt. Valid driver’s license for locations: Class E in Missouri, Chauffeur’s License in Michigan. Must be 21 years of age or older. After hire, ability to pass a driver’s road skills test and DOT physical.
