Position Summary The purpose of this role is to assist the physician with surgeries. Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks Escort patient to and from exam room, help patient prepare for exam. Enter medical histories and prescriptions into EMR. Assist physician during exam/procedure. Perform extractions, injections and other patient treatments. Prepare and collect path/lab specimens, notify patients of results and schedule follow up appointments. Educate patients and respond to patient questions in office/on phone as needed. Document all medical instructions given to patients. Clean and organize exam rooms, prepare procedure trays, clean and autoclave instruments, and stock supplies. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Current licensing for the applying state. Position Requirements Demonstrate compassion, confidence, and professionalism in all patient interactions. Excellent communication and patient education skills. Key Responsibilities Prepare and draw up anesthesia for the office surgical team. Assist the Mohs surgeon with patient anesthesia administration using lidocaine before surgical stages and repairs. Provide chairside assistance during Mohs surgical procedures and repairs. Prepare surgical instruments and trays while ensuring accurate documentation and completion of operative reports. Educate patients on post-operative care and assist with wound evaluations and suture removals. Schedule surgical procedures and provide preoperative education to patients, helping optimize the surgical schedule. Conduct preoperative patient evaluations and assessments via telephone. Maintain and update pathology logs and related records. Support the clinical team in delivering efficient, high-quality patient care. Equipment Operated Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc. Physical Requirements Must possess manual dexterity to operate office machines including computer and calculator; stooping and bending to handle files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries.
