Shift Lead

Responsibilities Open and close the store in the absence of store management, including system start-ups, cash handling, and ensuring the floor and stock room are ready for the business day. Complete product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and provide change as requested to cash registers. Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive experience. Model and share customer‑service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy, and Walgreens service traits such as offering help proactively, identifying needs, and servicing until satisfied. Hold store keys and open/close the store independently when management is absent. Assist and coach other team members with the warehouse and vendor ordering process, including opening the backdoor for vendor deliveries. Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, including scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, and voids. Assist the manager or assistant store manager in reviewing order exceptions on release day and in reverse logistics (e.g., returns, empty packages). Assist with evaluating and developing displays, including promotional, seasonal, super‑structures, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions. Maintain accurate inventory counts for on‑hand quantities in basic departments, the stockroom, and over‑stock locations. Ensure the Outdate program is followed with team members. Perform basic department pricing and make daily price changes; ensure proper signage is displayed to support accurate product pricing. Assist with bookkeeping activities, including cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payment as necessary or requested. Assist with exterior and interior maintenance, ensuring a clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance; request repairs as required. Assist with separation of food items and product placement as specified by policies; help with stock rotation using the first‑in, first‑out method and restock outs. Maintain working knowledge of store systems and equipment. Assist at the pharmacy window as requested. Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco). Conduct bag checks of team members before leaving the store. Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers. Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned. Attend training and complete required PPLs requested by the manager. Serve as a liaison between management and non‑management team members by communicating assigned tasks when store management is not present. Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management. Basic Qualifications One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience. Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of store inventory control. Consideration of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. Obtain and maintain valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
