Clinical Neonatologist

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, in collaboration with the Emory University Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology, is seeking a clinical neonatologist with specialized expertise in neurological care for critically ill newborns to help lead our expanding neonatal neurocritical care program. This faculty position offers the unique opportunity to shape clinical care, advance research, and mentor the next generation of neonatologists while working with a world-class multidisciplinary team. This role is appropriate for all ranks as it offers both leadership opportunities and robust support. The faculty member will contribute to the clinical, research, and teaching missions of the Division of Neonatology and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta with clinical coverage in the NICU and participation in student, resident, and fellow education. Key clinical responsibilities include:

• Lead clinical care and quality improvement initiatives for infants with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions
• Oversee therapeutic hypothermia protocols and neuroprotective strategies for approximately 50 HIE cases annually
• Provide clinical coverage across our three NICUs with state-of-the-art neuroimaging and monitoring capabilities
• Collaborate extensively with pediatric neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, and rehabilitation specialists

Additional expectations include:

• Contributing to our robust education mission by teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers, particularly in areas related to neonatal neurology
• Actively engaging in research opportunities focused on neuroprotection and neonatal brain injury

Qualified candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent and must be board-certified/board-eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Additional fellowship training or significant experience in neonatal neurology is preferred but not required. Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to neuroprotection and management of neonatal brain injury. Salary and professional level of appointment will be commensurate with experience.

Employment will be in the Emory + Children's Pediatric Institute with a faculty appointment in Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics.

To plan, implement and evaluate the provision of high-quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents in the respective clinical area.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in respective clinical area.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.
• Graduate of an accredited, post-graduate residency program in Pediatrics.
• Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

Certification Summary:

• Board Certified/ Board Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia.
• BLS, PALS, or NRP certification required.
• Current DEA registration.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.
• Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children's policies and procedures.
• Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.
• Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.
• Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making.
• Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.
• Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.
• Actively responds to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.
• Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.
• Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete, and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.
• Performs other responsibilities as required.
