Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department (ED)

Role & Responsibilities Patient Triage & Assessment: Conduct rapid, thorough initial assessments upon patient arrival. Prioritize care based on acuity using sound clinical judgment. Care Plan Execution: Design, implement, and adjust personalized care plans in a fast-paced environment. Monitor vitals and observe changes in condition for prompt interventions. Medication & Treatments: Administer medications, perform treatments, and initiate emergency protocols under physician guidance. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work seamlessly with physicians, technicians, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth patient flow. Patient Advocacy & Education: Provide emotional support, clarify health conditions, and educate patients and their families regarding treatment and post-discharge care. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and Sentara policies. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Associate's Degree (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred. Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the State of Virginia or compact multistate license. Experience: Previous acute care hospital experience required. Dedicated Emergency Room experience strongly preferred. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification (ENPC) required within one year of hire.
