Full-time Cook

Job TitleGeneral Definition of WorkPerforms semiskilled work preparing and serving meals, cleaning utensils and kitchen, ordering food, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Cook Supervisor.Must be able to work during normal operation hours of the kitchen, 5:00 AM - 5:00 PMEssential FunctionsPrepares and cooks meats, vegetables, and other foods in accordance with menu.Operated standard cooking equipment such as ranger, mixers, food choppers, deep fryers, and refrigerators.Serves meals to inmates.Cleans kitchen, equipment.Washes dishes and performs general cleaning chores as needed.Receives and stocks food supplies maintains sanitary standards.Participates in serving food and cleaning dining facility.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education & ExperienceGeneral knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing meats, bread and other foods on a large scale and of the use and care of utensils and equipment; general knowledge of food values and nutrition; skill in cutting and carving meat; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with inmates and associates. High school diploma or GED and minimum experience in cooking foods in large quantities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
