QA/QC Inspector – In-Process Inspector II (Finishing Operations, 3rd Shift)
The QA/QC Inspector – In-Process Inspector II plays a key role in finishing operations for roll labels on 3rd shift. This position focuses on in-process inspection, operation of finishing and vision systems, verification of computerized runs, and support of reprint and packaging activities to ensure that all materials meet strict quality standards before further processing or shipment.
Responsibilities
- Follow all current In Process Inspection standard operating procedures and work instructions, ensuring strict adherence to established quality standards.
- Operate finishing machines efficiently to support roll label finishing operations, including the tabletop rewind machine for roll label reprint integration and the Rotoflex system for roll label reprint integration, roll slitting, and roll rewinding.
- Maintain full working knowledge of the label Vision System, including proper machine setup, run monitoring, roll slitting as applicable, and run close-out procedures.
- Perform 100% inspection of all computerized material using visual inspection techniques, accurately identifying defective labels that must be rejected before materials are passed on to the client.
- Accurately count labels to verify that the quantity being shipped matches the quantity requested by the client.
- Carry out all activities related to labels requiring reprint, including identification of defective labels, generation of reprint files, and integration of reprinted labels into existing rolls.
- Release inspected materials that meet required inspection standards for further processing or shipment.
- Assist with packaging of released finished or computerized materials, including shrink wrapping, generating material identification tags, and boxing labels for shipment.
- Support the mentoring and training of new In Process Inspectors, helping them become familiar with department practices, procedures, and policies.
- Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner, following workplace safety guidelines and best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to meet evolving business needs.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with inspection and quality control processes in a manufacturing or finishing environment.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed SOPs, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Mechanical aptitude to operate and adjust finishing machines such as tabletop rewinders and Rotoflex systems.
- Working knowledge or strong aptitude to learn label Vision Systems, including setup, monitoring, and run close-out.
- Strong attention to detail and visual inspection skills to identify defective labels and ensure 100% inspection accuracy.
- Ability to accurately count and verify label quantities against client requirements.
- Commitment to safe work practices and efficient execution of tasks.
- Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as part of routine material handling and packaging activities.
- Basic computer literacy for operating computerized inspection and production systems.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with the assistance of a calculator.
- Mechanically inclined, with comfort working around and operating production machinery.
- Previous machine operator experience in a manufacturing or finishing environment preferred.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing and finishing facility focused on roll label production and inspection. You will work on 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, operating and interacting with equipment such as tabletop rewind machines, Rotoflex systems, and label Vision Systems. The environment is fast-paced and safety-conscious, with expectations for proper material handling, including lifting up to 30 lbs, shrink wrapping, generating material ID tags, and boxing labels. Team members typically wear appropriate work attire suitable for a production floor and follow all safety and operational guidelines while working with computerized and mechanical equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bohemia, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.90 - $29.90/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
