Responsible for ensuring that such functions are within limitations of laws, regulations and hospital policies and procedures related to specified departments. Assists the Director of Materials Management, in the day to day activities of specified departments. Coordinates assigning and reviewing of work, training and orientation of new staff. Coordinates functions for decontamination, reprocessing and sterilization of instruments. Coordinates equipment maintenance of sterile instrument sets/supplies. Coordinates inventory management processes and durable medical equipment program. Structures record keeping functions to assure compliance with Federal, State and accreditation requirements.Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:EDUCATION1. High School graduate or equivalent preferred2. Supplemental courses in Management, Sterile Processing and Central Supply are strongly preferredEXPERIENCE1. Five years experience in theories and/or practice in Sterile Processing required2. An understanding of the functions and relationships of the Sterile Processing and Central Supply and inventory management knowledge and experience3. One year of supervisory experience or 3 years in a lead capacity requiredLICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONSCert Sterile Proc/Distrib Tech OR Cert Sterile Process Tech Required at hirePREREQUISITE SKILLSDemonstrated knowledge of:1. Principles and practices of Aseptic and Sterile technique2. Standards and practices of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN)3. Applicable governing agencies requirements4. Medical and surgical terminology, supplies and equipment5.
