Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments for the Nursing Assistant program at the Sylvania Campus. Candidates will be considered for providing instruction in lecture/lab and clinical settings. This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments. Clinical and Lecture/Lab Instructor Scopes The Clinical Instructor scope of work: Supervises, instructs, and evaluates nursing assistant students in a clinical setting. An instructor is assigned to a clinical site for 2 days or evenings a week/term. The instructor will supervise between 4 to 6 students at one time. Primary communication will be with the director of the Nursing Assistant program. The Lecture/Lab Instructor scope of work: Instructs and evaluates nursing assistant students in the lab setting. Primary communication will be with the director of the Nursing Assistant program. Our Program and Who We Are Looking For Learn more about our program at pcc.edu/NA Instructor Qualifications There are two categories of instructors to be considered for hire: Primary instructor: Hold a current Oregon RN license Have at least two years’ experience as an RN; and Have evidence of completion of a course on teaching adults, or one year of experience teaching adults Clinical Instructors and Instructors for Lecture/Lab: Hold a current Oregon RN or LPN license; and Have the equivalent of at least one year of experience as a licensed nurse For complete information regarding faculty qualifications, see the Oregon Board of Nursing Standards for Education Programs for Nursing Assistants and Medication Aides, 851-061-0080 Standards for Program Approval: Faculty Qualifications and Responsibilities. Clinical Requirements Upon hire, faculty will be required to complete clinical requirements such as a drug screen, background check, vaccination verification, and online training modules. Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
