Contributes to the Hospital’s mission to care, heal and to excel in service to our community by independently operating sonographic equipment to perform arterial and venus studies and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. This professional staff technologist position will have an impact on quality, safety and the patient experience**Job Description:****QUALIFICATIONS:****Education:****Required:** Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program that is accredited**Preferred:** Associates Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography **Experience:****Preferred:** At least two years of ultrasound with six months in an on-site apprenticeship with a Vascular Laboratory**Other Skills/Knowledge:****Required:** For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team**LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:****Required**: Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) as appropriate or registry eligible. If registry eligible, must obtain ARDMS (RVT) registration within 12 months of hire date.**Preferred:** RVT **LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:** Basic Life Support**POPULATION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:** Neonates, Infants, Children, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics**OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:****Schedule requirements:** Flexible days and hours to be discussed during the interview process**REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:*** Reports to the Ultrasound/ Vascular Supervisor* Not responsible for supervising the work of others**JOB FUNCTIONS**As part of the Radiology team, the Vascular Technologist:* Educates and informs patients and family members throughout the patients’ experience.* Communicates effectively with the healthcare team utilizing established handoff procedures.* Gives and accepts respectful feedback to enhance teamwork.* Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography arterial and venus examinations.* Uses sonographic skills to identify, record and modify procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.* Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.* Analyses sonograms, incorporates sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician coverage.* Assists with the daily operation of the sonographic lab.* Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area and maintains adequate supplies. Responds to equipment issues timely to ensure optimum operations and equipment quality and long-term equipment maintenance and life.* Participates in the maintenance of vascular laboratory accreditation.* Minimizes preventable harm events and consistently executes the infection control protocols. Incorporates the Culture of Safety tools in daily practice, adhering to quality and safety guidelines and communicating near-miss or potential risks.* Educates and informs patients and family members throughout the patients’ experience.**PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS*** The employee needs to have the physical and mental abilities to perform the duties of the position listed above using the WE CARE behaviors.* It is anticipated that the employee will have contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials while performing their job duties.* Requires working in an area where film processing chemicals, developer and fixer are being used.* Strength sufficient to lift some patients, move heavy equipment on wheels and move patients in wheelchairs and stretchers.* Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning.* The list below is intended to describe the physical and sensory ability requirements of the position; however those requirements may vary, sometimes considerably, based on meeting patient and operational needs.**Pay Range:**$47.00 - $69.84The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.## As a health care organization, we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to care for and protect our patients, our colleagues and our communities.
