Program & Activity Coordinator For Children, Youth & Families

Company Description Litchfield Community Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering connection, learning, and well-being for individuals and families in the Litchfield & NW CT area. The Center provides a welcoming, inclusive environment where community members of all ages can participate in social, educational, cultural,recreational and well-being programs. It focuses on building strong relationships, encouraging personal growth, and supporting community engagement. Staff and volunteers work collaboratively to design and deliver programs that respond to the evolving needs of children, youth, families, and older adults.

Role Description The Program & Activity Coordinator for Children, Youth & Families is a full-time, on-site role based in Litchfield, CT. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating age-appropriate programs, activities, and events for children and young people, as well as family-focused initiatives. Day-to-day tasks include developing program schedules, coordinating logistics, preparing materials, and leading activities that promote social connection, learning, and healthy development. The Coordinator will collaborate with community partners, schools, and families to identify needs and opportunities, support outreach and promotion, and ensure programs are accessible and inclusive. Additional responsibilities may include supervising volunteers, tracking participation and feedback, and assisting with grant-related reporting or fundraising events that benefit youth and family programs.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication, active listening, and the ability to engage effectively with children, youth, families, colleagues, and community partners.
• Candidates should possess Training and program facilitation skills, including experience leading groups, delivering workshops or activities, and supporting skill-building and positive youth development.
• Candidates should possess knowledge related to Mental Health and child and youth well-being, including awareness of social-emotional needs, trauma-informed approaches, and appropriate referrals to support services when necessary.
• Candidates should possess experience with Fundraising and community engagement, such as assisting with events, campaigns, or grant-related activities that support programs for children, youth, and families.
• Candidates should ideally have experience working in community centers, schools, youth organizations, or family services, and demonstrate strong organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to manage multiple programs and schedules.
• Relevant education in social work, education, child development, recreation, or a related field is beneficial, as is experience with basic computer skills, program promotion, maintaining accurate records and being a positive, productive and collaborative Team Member.
• Salary range $60-65K with organization paying life insurance, 80% of health insurance, 3% retirement contribution match, paid holidays and PTO
