Senior Therapeutic Area Specialist – Psychiatry Location: Glendale, CA; La Cañada Flintridge, CA; Glendale, CA; Pasadena, CA; Burbank, CA. Position Summary: The Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a critical role in our unique customer model to execute BMS’s aspiration to be the BioPharma that delivers the most impactful engagement with healthcare providers (HCPs). The primary role is to drive demand for BMS medicines within the portfolio for appropriate patients, engaging HCPs with a differentiated customer experience through deeper scientific dialogue and consistent with label and leveraging new ways of working. The TAS builds and maintains strong professional credibility with regional thought leaders and community-based physicians in private practice and medical groups, serving as the primary point of contact. The TAS liaises with other BMS functions as needed to deliver a higher customer experience, prioritizing safe and appropriate use of BMS products while focusing on business results and performance objectives. The role is field‑based; the TAS is expected to spend 100% of time in the field with external customers. Key Responsibilities Portfolio Promotion Promotes approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory or region to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner. Creates demand for BMS medicines by articulating a balanced scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients. Engages with and continuously maintains/grows a high level of scientific expertise in all assigned products and therapeutic areas. Prepares and implements comprehensive territory and account plans. Proactively uses available tools such as CE^3 to derive insights and dynamically inform call plans, providing feedback to leadership for continuous improvement. Fair & Balanced Scientific Dialogue Demonstrates scientific expertise and passion, using approved resources to present accurate data to HCPs. Conducts in‑office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discusses product‑related scientific information consistent with label. Organizes external speaker programs, selecting speakers from approved list and facilitating scheduling and logistics. Maintains expertise on emerging data for approved indications. Engages real‑time medical support through Medical on Call to answer unsolicited questions and complex technical inquiries. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Collaborates proactively with other field teams to ensure the best customer experience for HCPs. Shares insights and information internally with stakeholders to better serve customers. Complies with all laws, regulations, and policies governing BMS conduct. Required Qualifications & Experience Advanced scientific degree and/or 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, MSL, HCP, or nursing. Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to physicians. Experience building and maintaining strong credibility with key customers, office staff, and others via a customer‑centric mindset. Preferred experience in neurology. Demonstrated account management skills, superior selling competencies, and a proven sales performance track record. Strong cross‑functional teamwork and can‑do attitude. Compensation Overview Field – United States – US: $139,230 to $168,714. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities may be available.
