Mental Health Therapist - DHS 964 - (MH5104.112) Provides a variety of case management, skills training, support services, group and individual counseling as required for persons with developmental disabilities, severe and persistent mental illness, and chemical dependency as needed for the level of the position. Under general supervision, assess client needs and functional level. Provides individualized case management to clients and makes appropriate referrals. Offers individual and group counseling, education, and support to clients and families, conducts skills training and outreach to client homes, and acts as liaison with community agencies that routinely encounter individuals with mental or emotional disturbances. Makes diagnoses, assists with program planning activities, screens clients for program eligibility, conducts comprehensive evaluations resulting in a DSM‑IV diagnosis, and develops diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans that incorporate appropriate services as defined in the treatment plan. May provide consultation for chemical‑dependency issues, education and training for program staff and community agencies, and clinical review of work by other clinicians or subcontracted programs. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Reasoning ability: ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Education and Experience This is a journey‑level professional counseling position requiring an M.A. degree plus two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should provide evidence of individual, group, and family counseling experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid driver’s license. Appropriate state licensure. A mental health specialist working with chemically dependent clients must hold CADC licensure or obtain the credential/license within 36 months of application. #J-18808-Ljbffr
